About the Artist
A New Journey

Growing up in Washington, D.C., with its rich backdrop of museums, galleries and sculpture gardens, gave me an early appreciation for the arts. It also provided me the opportunity to take art lessons at the Corcoran Gallery of Art -- for which I am very grateful.
Fast forward to college where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, my other passion. I taught elementary school in the Montgomery County Maryland Public Schools for over 37 years. With my art background, I had the best bulletin boards in the school!
Now that I've retired from teaching, I'm taking the path I didn't take in my youth: pursuing my love of art and expressing it through painting. I paint scenes and subjects that appeal or speak to me, and I hope the emotions I feel in creating these images carries through to the viewer. I am a member of the Rehoboth Art League and love the picturesque, inspiring and supportive atmosphere of Lewes, Delaware. My journey back to painting takes inspiration from the ocean, seascapes, landscapes, flora and life of Lewes and coastal Delaware. I show my work at local art shows in Lewes, Rehoboth, and Bethany Beach, Delaware. And, recently, at the Sean Kelley and Friends Gallery in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, right on Rehoboth Avenue and Penny Lane! And although I'm not a classroom teacher anymore, spending more than 30 years with elementary school children has given me a penchant for infusing my art with a touch of whimsy and a lightness of being. Come with me on my journey back to art!
